# Master list — everything still needed (2026-10-02)

Built from `ROSTER.md` (3 of 5 lists in: Jordan, Nik, Nathan; Hilton and Jarred still owe theirs)
and the decided plan: base camp at Vogel Thu Oct 15 – Wed Oct 21, **3-day / 2-night hike Sat Oct
17 – Mon Oct 19**, free day Tue Oct 20. Headcount: **5**, confirmed by Jordan 2026-10-02 — the
earlier 6-person brackets are gone. Food below is sized for 5. (Site P's own occupancy limit is 6;
that is the site's cap, not our headcount.)

Owned-and-covered group gear (do not buy): 2 base-camp tents, two-burner propane stove, camp pan,
lantern x2, clothesline, 3 backpacking stoves, 3 x 750 ml pots, 2 x 8 oz fuel canisters, 2 Katadyn
BeFree filters + Aquatabs, first aid kit x3, cathole trowel x2, paracord 100 ft, compass, offline
maps, repair kit, matches/lighters, soap, permethrin, panning kit (pan, classifier, snuffer, vials,
crevice tools, loupes, trowels). Full table: `ROSTER.md`.

## 1. Group gear still to buy (nobody has it)

| Item | Why / note | Price (picker) |
|---|---|---|
| Bear-proof food storage | 2 nights x 5 people of food is ~11 person-days. One Ursack Major holds ~5. **Buy 2**, or 1 Ursack + a hang bag on Jordan's paracord. No canister order applies in October. | $149.95 ea |
| Satellite messenger | No cell on the Coosa Backcountry Trail. Rent or buy. | $199.00 |
| Nat Geo Chattahoochee-Oconee paper map x2 | One per hiking pair leader. | $59.80 |
| Repair kit: Tenacious Tape + pad patch + duct tape + zip ties | Jordan's "repair kit" row is a different item; confirm his covers this. | $23.95 |
| Third fuel canister (8 oz) | 2 canisters covers ~15 L of boiling; 5 people x 2 dinners + 2 breakfasts needs about that. A third is cheap insurance. | ~$8 (add to picker) |
| Cooler, 48 qt wheeled | Base camp | $54.99 |
| Propane cylinders 16.4 oz, 2-pack | Base camp stove, 6 camp meals | $29.98 |
| Dish tub + sponge, folding cutting board, ground tarp, picnic table cover | Base camp | $74.72 |
| Tweezers + magnetic pickup + spray bottle | Panning cleanup | $29.25 |
| Ear plugs, hand sanitizer, camp TP, contractor trash bags | Consumables | $61.40 |

Group total (roster) **$1,025.34**, about **$205 each at 5** (plus the canister and a second Ursack).

## 2. Hike food — Sat lunch through Mon lunch (carried)

**Re-sized 2026-10-08** for the 3-day / 2-night hike (was 4 days / 3 nights). Breakfast at Vogel
Sat, dinner at Vogel Mon. Carried: **2 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 2 dinners, 3 days of snacks**. Plan on
1.5–2 lb per person per day: **5–6 lb each**, not the 3 lb in `research/gear.md` (sized for one
night) and not the 7–8 lb this table said when the hike was three nights.

| Meal | Per person | x5 total | Buy-list row | Enough? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Breakfast x2 (Sun, Mon) | 2 oatmeal packets + 1 coffee | 20 oatmeal, 10 coffee | Quaker 52 ct; Starbucks VIA 2 x 12 | yes |
| Lunch x3 (Sat, Sun, Mon) | 1 tortilla + PB or tuna, jerky | 15 tortillas, 10 PB, 5 tuna | Mission 16 ct; Justin's 10-pack; StarKist 2 x 4 | yes (1 tortilla pack, 1 PB pack) |
| Dinner x2 (Sat, Sun) | 1 Mountain House 2-serving pouch | 10 pouches | 12 pouches | yes, 2 spare. Nathan owns some: count his first |
| Snacks x3 days | 2 bars, 3 oz trail mix, 1.5 oz jerky | 30 bars, 45 oz mix, 7.5 oz jerky | Clif 2 x 12; Kirkland 4 lb; Jack Link's 3-pack | yes (24 bars in 2 boxes + base-camp spares; buy a 3rd box if you want slack) |

Water: filter at camp (the creek at CAMP-U; headwater, October flow unconfirmed — fill up at WOLF-X before the climb, 2 L each), Aquatabs backup.
Pack the food by day in gallon zip bags; everything with a smell goes in the Ursack/hang at night.

## 3. Base camp food — 7 camp meals + 1 lunch

Re-counted 2026-10-08 for the Sat–Mon hike: Thu dinner, Fri breakfast (Fri lunch and dinner in
Dahlonega), Sat breakfast, **Mon dinner (make it the big one — the group is back off the hike)**,
Tue breakfast, Tue lunch (out or at camp, free day), Tue dinner, Wed breakfast. The picker's "car-camp grocery run" ($140
est.) covers it: eggs, bacon/sausage, bread, pancake mix, hot dogs/burgers, condiments, chips, foil,
ice, coffee, snacks. Buy in Blairsville (Ingles) Thu on the way in; ice again Tue. Food and coolers
sleep in the truck cabs, not the tents (Vogel is developed; vehicle storage is the rule).

## 4. What each person still owes (personal, from ROSTER.md)

| Person | Items | Cost | Biggest gaps |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jordan | 28 | $2,187.47 | 1P tent, sleep pad, boots, rain + puffy jackets, base layers, headlamp, power bank, knife |
| Nik | 2 | $171.06 | batteries, wipes |
| Nathan | 13 | $794.63 | blaze orange vest, water bottle, bivvy, towel, knee pads, consumables |
| Hilton | ? | ? | **no list yet** — send the Buy tab, Copy list, paste back |
| Jarred | ? | ? | **no list yet** |

Everyone on the hike needs, no exceptions: blaze orange (deer season opens Sat), a 20–30 F sleeping
bag + insulated pad, rain jacket, warm layer, headlamp, 1–2 L bottles, their own shelter or a share of
one, trekking poles recommended for the Calf Stomp Gap descent.
